Head Start Winter 2019 Traditional LD Staff

Jai Sehgal

Debated for two years at Kempner High School on the local and national circuit. In LD, he cleared at national tournaments including UH, Strake Jesuit, and Grapevine, where he earned a bid round. He reached outrounds at TFA State in LD, and in CX at NSDA Nationals. His teaching interests lie mainly within teaching traditional debaters how to beat the spread, win the impact debate, and effectively craft rebuttal strategies. He recently taught at Mean Green Debate over the summer, and is very excited to work with students this winter!

Steven Ha

Steven Ha is a sophomore political science major at Howard University where he currently competes on their Speech and Debate team. He debated for 4 years at Alief Taylor High School, where he served as President and debate captain for two years. During his time in high school he competed on the UIL, TFA, and National Circuit. He cleared at tournaments in all circuits, and his accomplishments include reaching the bid round at Isidore Newman, qualifying and clearing at the TFA state tournament,  and qualifying for the regional UIL LD tournament two years in a row. He is well versed in all aspects of debate and is well equipped to teach traditional debaters how to be competitive in all circuits. He is super excited to work with all students this winter.
